My Story

I’m a certified birth and postpartum doula, a mom of five, and the founder of Idaho Postpartum Haven. This work is deeply personal to me. When I had my first baby back in 2011, I was surrounded by people who loved me. Even with all that support, something still felt off. The shift from the hospital, where everything was structured and monitored, to being home alone with a newborn was overwhelming. There were no clear instructions, and I questioned all my instincts. It was just me trying to care for a baby while figuring out who I was becoming. That experience showed me how much support families really need during this time.

As I started supporting families through birth and postpartum after my first child was born, I kept seeing the same thing. Parents do their best, but don't get the care they really want and need. I trained with DONA and became certified with ProDoula so I could have the necessary training to support other families during this powerful season of life. I eventually created Idaho Postpartum Haven in 2023 when my last child was born. My goal is to give families a soft place to recover after birth, with real support and space to rest and learn.

There’s so much pressure to have it all together right away. Whether that pressure comes from others or from inside ourselves, it can make the postpartum season feel harder than it needs to be. I want to give you calm, comfort, and the kind of support that lets you settle into your new role with realistic expectations. You don’t have to do this alone, and you were never meant to.

What is a doula?

A doula is a professional support person providing non-medical physical, emotional, and educational assistance before, during, and after birth.

Research and Evidence on Doulas

Research consistently shows that doula support leads to better outcomes for parents and babies.
Here's what leading organizations have to say:
Cochrane Library

A 2017 Cochrane review of 26 trials found:

“Continuous support in labor may improve a number of outcomes for both mother and baby, and no adverse outcomes have been identified.”  View source

Documented Benefits of Doula Support:

American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists

"Doula care was associated with more vaginal births after cesarean delivery, improved attendance of postpartum office visits, improved breastfeeding rates, and fewer preterm deliveries." View source

"Evidence suggests that, in addition to regular nursing care, continuous one-to-one emotional support provided by support personnel, such as a doula, is associated with improved outcomes for women in labor. " View source

March of Dimes

"Increased access to doula care, especially in under-resourced communities, can improve a range of health outcomes for mothers and babies, lower healthcare costs, reduce c-sections, decrease maternal anxiety and depression, and help improve communication between low-income, racially/ethnically diverse pregnant women and their health care providers.” View source

DONA International

"Obstetric outcomes were most improved and intervention rates most dramatically lowered by doulas. " View source

“Research by experts tells us what many have long suspected-that those new parents who have support and feel secure and cared for during this time are more successful in adapting than those who don't. We know that women who experience support...have greater breastfeeding success, greater self-confidence, less postpartum depression, and a lower incidence of abuse than those who do not."
